FAQs

Can the rugs be machine washed?

Yes, the smaller rugs (2x3 and 3x5) can be machine washed using light detergent, low spin, and hang dried. We recommend flipping them once and then when both sides are dirty, washing them once every three months. For the larger rugs we suggest taking them to a local dry cleaners and having them steamed cleaned.

Should I use a rug pad under my rug?

Yep! We recommend using a rug pad under all our rugs. It not only extends the life of the rug but helps prevent Home Alone style slips and groin pulls. You just need to trim the rug pad, maybe 2” in on each side so the rug pad doesn’t show.

Is the wool soft and high quality?

Yes, the wool used is very soft. The weavers use Churro wool, purchased from shepherds who travel from a nearby village. The benefit of wool rugs compared with synthetic yarn like viscose, is the wool lasts a lot longer.

Are your rugs fair trade?

Although we are not yet officially certified as fair trade, we operate under the fair trade standards. We collaborate directly with the weavers as opposed to working through 3rd party intermediaries or wholesalers. This allows us to pay fair wages directly to the weavers and to personally make sure the working conditions are ideal.
